Our client, a vibrant organization dedicated to enriching community life through sports and leisure activities, is seeking a creative and organized Events and Programming Coordinator for their **Des Moines, Iowa, US** location. This role is instrumental in developing, managing, and executing a diverse range of events and programs that engage the community and promote healthy lifestyles. The ideal candidate will be passionate about recreation, possess excellent organizational skills, and have a flair for creating memorable experiences. Key responsibilities include conceptualizing and planning various events, such as sporting tournaments, fitness classes, workshops, and community festivals. You will manage all logistical aspects, including venue selection, vendor coordination, budget management, marketing, and on-site execution. Developing and scheduling a diverse program of recreational activities, ensuring they meet community needs and interests, will be a core function. Collaborating with internal teams, community partners, and stakeholders to ensure successful event and program delivery is essential. You will also be responsible for promoting events and programs through various communication channels, including social media, email marketing, and local media outreach. Gathering feedback post-event and analyzing participation data to assess success and identify areas for improvement will be crucial. Required qualifications include an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Recreation Management, Event Planning, Hospitality, Marketing, or a related field. A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in event planning, program coordination, or a similar role, preferably within the leisure, sports, or non-profit sector, is required. Proven experience in managing budgets, coordinating vendors, and executing successful events is essential. Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills are critical. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are necessary to interact effectively with participants, staff, volunteers, and community members. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with event management software are highly desirable. The ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed for events, is required. A passion for promoting health, wellness, and community engagement is paramount for this role.
