As a General Laborer, you'll be a critical part of our project teams, supporting craft workers on construction sites across structural construction, heavy concrete construction, demolition, and framing projects. Your day-to-day responsibilities include providing hands-on support to other craft workers on project sites, maintaining clean and safe work areas by sweeping debris, gathering and discarding trash, scrap iron and wood, and removing snow and ice. You'll be loading and unload materials as needed and identifying hazards associated with your task assignments, asking for clarification when needed. You must have the minimum tools associated with the trade and comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures, reporting any unsafe activities to your supervisor or Safety team. More broadly, you'll champion "The Layton Way" by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers. You'll ensure that "Constructing with Integrity" is delivered by working with honesty, unity, safety, and quality of work. ## What We're Looking For You must be at least 18 years of age. We need someone who can perform essential duties and responsibilities efficiently, accurately, and safely—with or without reasonable accommodation—without posing a threat of harm to self or others. You should be able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and emails, and write simple correspondence and emails. The ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations is important, as is the ability to apply understanding to carrying out simple one- or two-step instructions. Attendance and meeting production deadlines are non-negotiable—we need someone committed to and meeting all scheduled attendance and production deadlines. ## Physical Demands This is physically demanding work. You'll be exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. You'll be ascending or descending ladders, scaffolding, and steep slopes with agility, maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling from precarious situations, and lowering your body to floor level to move about with agility. You'll extend out and retrieve objects outside your immediate range, support yourself and stay in an upright position for extended periods, and perform considerable pushing and pulling of objects in sustained motions. You'll raise substantial objects from lower to higher positions or move them horizontally between locations, manipulate small objects precisely, seize objects by applying considerable force, and detect attributes of objects through touch. You must have good depth perception, field of vision, and near acuity. You'll be frequently exposed to weather conditions and occasionally to extreme cold, extreme heat, wet and/or humid conditions, exposure to dust and fumes, and working in high exposed places.
