The Opportunity: We are looking for a full-time evening Security Officer who will be responsible for on site security for University of Toronto Schools during an afternoon shift period between 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Key Responsibilities: Act as site security guard and main point of contact in relation to emergencies and security needs for evening programs and events and performing regular inspection tours of the school and grounds to ensure the safety of students and staff. Liaising with U of T campus police and Toronto Police, as needed. Monitoring and logging check-in/check-out of all after-hour tutors, coaches, and other parties on site for special school and school affiliate activities.Assisting the Facilities Department with large afternoon and evening events, following up with custodial staff, and other related duties as assigned Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum 4 years of security-related experience required. Previous experience in a school setting, with demonstrated ability to handle emergencies effectively and with sensitivity where minors are involved. Valid Security Guard License issued by the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services, CPR and First-Aid Certificate required.Must have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate in a mature confident manner with all stakeholders and the general public Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgement and tact, with ability to calmly address conflicts as they may arise.
