Project-based across South Africa. About Our Client The client is a company involved in utility-scale PV plants and BESS facilities. They utilize an Owner’s Engineer team on site to ensure EPC contractor compliance throughout the project lifecycle. The Role: Electrical Supervisor – Utility Scale PV & BESS Projects The Electrical Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all electrical construction and installation activities associated with utility-scale PV plants and BESS facilities. The role exists to ensure electrical works are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with project specifications, grid code requirements, and applicable standards. The main focus areas include representing the Owner’s Engineer team on site and ensuring EPC contractor compliance. Key Responsibilities Demonstrate 6–8 years’ experience in utility-scale PV and BESS projects. Supervise all electrical construction and installation activities including cable installation, termination, testing, and earthing. Monitor installation of inverters, transformers, switchgear, SCADA, and BESS electrical systems. Conduct inspections and verify QA/QC compliance for approved engineering documentation. Oversee subcontractors, electrical teams, and site activities to monitor project progress and report risks. Support energisation planning and commissioning readiness activities. Review technical submissions, method statements, and inspection records. Ensure adherence to HSE and electrical safety requirements. About You Bachelor’s Degree or BTech in Electrical Engineering. Registered or eligible for registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA). 6–8 years’ experience in utility-scale PV and BESS projects. Proven experience in Owner’s Engineer environments. Strong knowledge of MV and LV electrical systems, substations, inverters, transformers, and SCADA. Familiarity with grid connection and commissioning activities. Knowledge of South African electrical regulations and safety standards. Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel.
