## About This Role Are you a hands-on, mechanically inclined professional who enjoys working outdoors and keeping operations running smoothly? We're looking for a Rail Yard Maintenance Technician to join our team at the 2218 Melvin Stone Company Kilby Rail Yard. In this position, you'll play a vital role in supporting the safe and efficient movement of materials across our rail-served facilities. This is ideal for someone who takes pride in maintaining equipment, track infrastructure, and yard safety in a fast-paced industrial setting. ## What You'll Do **Rail Infrastructure Maintenance** is a core part of your day-to-day work. You'll inspect, maintain, and repair rail tracks, switches, and crossings within the yard. You'll ensure proper alignment, drainage, and ballast conditions around the track area, and perform minor track resurfacing, tamping, and bolt tightening as needed. You'll also handle **Equipment & Yard Support** duties, maintaining and servicing railcar movers, mobile equipment, and yard tools. Conducting pre- and post-operation checks on yard equipment and reporting any issues will be routine. You'll maintain records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities, and report any infrastructure issues, mechanical failures, or railcar defects promptly. ## What We're Looking For You must have a high school diploma or GED. We prefer 1–3 years of experience in industrial maintenance, construction, or rail yard operations, though the right candidate with strong mechanical aptitude can succeed here. You should have basic knowledge of tools, hydraulics, and maintenance equipment. The ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and navigate uneven terrain is essential, as is a willingness to travel to different plant locations. Must be safety-minded and able to follow strict operating procedures. You'll need to be willing to work overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays as required. A valid driver's license is required; a CDL is a plus. ## Why Join Us We offer a comprehensive benefits package to support the health and well-being of our team, including health, dental, and vision insurance, company-paid life insurance, company-paid short-term disability, a 401(k) plan with company match, paid time off (PTO), and holiday pay. Join a team that values your well-being both in and out of the workplace. We look for talent that shares our core values: Forward Thinking, Hard Working, and Willing to Learn. If you're looking for a stable and growing industry opportunity, we'd love to hear from you.
