An opportunity exists for a Legal Administrative Assistant to serve articles of clerkship at a reputable firm in Knysna, Western Cape. You will gain practical experience across civil litigation, criminal law, family law, and commercial law under guidance of experienced practitioners. An LLB degree and eligibility to register articles are required. Responsibilities Liaise with clients, opposing counsel, court officials, and other stakeholders professionally, providing updates and managing expectations. Maintain and organise legal files and records in physical and electronic format, ensuring documents are correctly indexed and retrievable. Prepare and manage billing and invoicing for legal services, capturing time records and following up on outstanding accounts. Manage the conveyancing process for property transactions including preparing transfer documents and lodging at the Deeds Office. Stay updated with changes in legislation and legal procedures affecting the practice areas in which the firm operates. Assist with preparation of trial bundles including copying, collating, indexing, and paginating documents as per court rules. Draft, review, and format legal documents including contracts, pleadings, affidavits, opinions, and correspondence with high accuracy. Requirements Knowledge of court rules, procedures, and legal terminology relevant to the practice area of the firm. For paralegal and secretary roles, a diploma or certificate in legal studies, paralegal practice, or legal secretarial studies. Proficiency in legal software packages including conveyancing platforms, legal accounting systems, and document management systems. A minimum of one to three years of experience in a legal environment including a law firm, corporate legal department, or public service. High ethical standards and the ability to handle confidential information with the utmost discretion and integrity. Strong attention to detail to ensure documents are error-free and deadlines and filing requirements are strictly observed. Qualifications Bachelor of Laws Degree
