About this role

An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a Urgent: Maintenance Engineer to contribute to major civil engineering projects based in Kimberley. This position requires technical expertise in structural analysis, geotechnical engineering, or transportation planning applied to real-world construction challenges. You will work within a multidisciplinary team delivering projects from concept through to completion.

Responsibilities Prepare detailed civil engineering designs including calculations, drawings, and specifications for infrastructure projects such as roads, drainage, and earthworks. Prepare technical reports and project documentation that clearly communicate engineering decisions and recommendations to clients, authorities, and other stakeholders. Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards and regulations including those related to structural safety, environmental protection, and construction health and safety. Perform structural analysis and design calculations for bridges, retaining walls, foundations, and other civil engineering structures using current design codes and standards. Conduct regular site inspections to monitor construction quality and identify any deviations from design that require corrective action or design adjustments. Prepare cost estimates and project programmes for civil engineering works to support budget development and project planning activities from feasibility through to delivery. Manage construction phase activities by monitoring contractor progress, reviewing method statements, and ensuring works comply with approved designs and specifications. Conduct site investigations and surveys to gather essential data about ground conditions, existing infrastructure, and environmental constraints that influence design decisions. Review and approve technical submittals from contractors including material proposals, temporary works designs, and quality control documentation. Coordinate with architects, planners, environmental specialists, and other stakeholders to integrate civil engineering requirements within broader project objectives and constraints.

Requirements A commitment to sustainable design principles and the ability to consider environmental impacts throughout the engineering design and decision-making process. Excellent report writing skills with the ability to produce clear and concise technical documents suitable for clients, regulators, and other stakeholders. Effective communication and teamwork skills for collaborating with colleagues from different engineering disciplines and external project partners. Knowledge of construction methods and the ability to assess the buildability and constructability of civil engineering designs in real-world conditions. Proficiency in civil engineering design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroDrainage, or similar tools for producing high-quality design documentation. Strong technical knowledge of civil engineering principles including structural analysis, geotechnics, hydraulics, and materials science applied to infrastructure projects. Experience with ground investigation techniques and the ability to interpret geotechnical data to inform foundation and earthworks design decisions. Understanding of health and safety regulations including the Construction Design and Management Regulations and their application to civil engineering projects. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate complex engineering challenges and develop practical and cost-effective solutions. Understanding of relevant design standards including Eurocodes and industry-specific guidance documents applicable to civil engineering structures and infrastructure.

Qualifications - Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related specialism with advanced knowledge in a specific area of civil engineering practice.

- Postgraduate diploma in a specialist area such as Geotechnical Engineering, Water Engineering, or Transportation Engineering from an accredited programme.

- Relevant industrial experience of at least two years in a civil engineering design or construction role with exposure to infrastructure project delivery.

- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution with studies covering core civil engineering disciplines.

- Chartered Engineer status or progress towards professional registration with a recognised engineering institution such as the Institution of Civil Engineers.
