Key Responsibilities: Oversee and manage all aspects of financial accounting, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations. Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP). Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Prepare tax returns and ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations. Assist with audits, liaising with external auditors and providing necessary documentation and explanations. Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity. Provide financial advice and support to clients on various accounting matters, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning. Stay current with changes in accounting standards and tax legislation, ensuring the firm and its clients remain compliant. Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance and training. Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings or improved efficiency. Utilize accounting software and other financial tools to maintain accurate records and generate reports. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional qualification such as CA(SA), ACCA, or CIMA is highly desirable. Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting, preferably within a public accounting firm or a complex corporate environment. In-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and/or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Proven experience in preparing financial statements, tax returns, and managing audit processes. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks) and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and client-facing skills. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet strict deadlines. Experience in managing or mentoring junior team members.
