Position Details Position Title: Night Security Guard Hours: Overnight (typically 7:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m., 4 days rotating days off – subject to operational needs) Department: Operations Reports To: COO or Designate Position Summary The Night Security Guard is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of all company premises during overnight hours. This includes monitoring access points, completing routine interior and exterior patrols (including use of a company vehicle), responding to incidents, and ensuring a secure environment for staff, visitors, and company assets. The position also supports operational continuity by monitoring facility access, documenting activities, verifying trucking movements, and reporting safety or security concerns to management. Key Responsibilities Conduct routine interior and exterior patrols of all buildings and properties. Patrol the premises using the assigned company vehicle, ensuring safe and responsible operation. Monitor surveillance systems, alarms, and access control points. Respond promptly to suspicious activity, security breaches, and emergencies. Monitor night staff activities, documenting entry and exit times. Complete accurate incident reports, logs, and nightly activity summaries. Assist law enforcement, emergency responders, or management when required. Conduct safety checks, including fire exits, lighting, and hazard inspections. Enforce site rules, policies, and security protocols. Remain alert and vigilant throughout the entire shift. Perform other duties assigned to support facility operations, safety, security, food safety compliance, and company policies. Verify identification of visitors, contractors, and truck drivers entering the property. Maintain accurate visitor and contractor sign‑in/sign‑out records. Conduct building lock‑up checks and confirm all access points are secure. Monitor truck yard activity including arrivals, departures, and trailer parking compliance. Verify trailer numbers and seal numbers to ensure shipment integrity. Prepare detailed shift‑handover notes summarizing overnight activities. Required Qualifications Previous security or related experience. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Ability to remain awake, alert, and attentive during overnight hours. Strong communication and reporting skills. Ability to walk, stand, or patrol for extended periods. Strong judgment, situational awareness, and conflict‑management abilities. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Clean criminal background check. First Aid / CPR certification. Experience with CCTV, access control, or alarm systems. Basic computer skills for logging and reporting. Customer service and de‑escalation experience. Work Environment Overnight hours with limited staff onsite. Indoor and outdoor patrols depending on facility layout. Exposure to varying weather conditions during outdoor patrols. Occasional interaction with law enforcement, emergency personnel, or the public. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for long periods. Ability to respond quickly during emergencies. Ability to lift or move 25–40 lbs as required.
