Key Responsibilities Assist experienced staff with the maintenance and repair of roads, sidewalks, and pathways, including patching, crack sealing, and general upkeep. Participate in landscape maintenance activities such as mowing, trimming, weeding, planting, and tree care in public parks and green spaces. Support the installation, maintenance, and repair of water and wastewater systems, including assisting with pipe laying, valve operation, and leak detection. Perform general labor duties, including digging, lifting, carrying materials, and operating basic hand and power tools under supervision. Assist with traffic control setup and removal for work zones, ensuring public and worker safety. Conduct routine equipment checks and maintain a clean and organized work environment. Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and procedures, utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Participate in winter operations, including snow removal, sanding, and de-icing as needed. Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to complete projects efficiently and to high standards. Required Skills Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions. Strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety guidelines. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. Basic knowledge of hand tools and willingness to learn to operate power equipment. Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic. Valid Class 5 driver’s license (or equivalent) with a clean driving record. Legal eligibility to work in Canada. Preferred Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Previous experience working in an outdoor, manual labor, or construction environment (even if informal). Basic mechanical aptitude or experience with basic vehicle/equipment maintenance.
